Abstract: Metaparadigms differentiate disciplines in terms of how each discipline develops its knowledge and its scholarship. Four domains comprise the nursing metaparadigm: environment, person, health, and nursing. Of these domains, the environment domain is the least identified. Relating this domain to the broader substantive meaning of the geographical-landscape setting of nursing encounters requires further explanation. Through a discursive process, the article positions “space and place” by referencing the nursing environment. The article aims to clarify and explain the expanding reach of the environment domain, extending its definition while recognizing its range of influence in nursing and healthcare. Distinguishing the nursing environment as a well-established domain of the nursing metaparadigm makes nursing practice more visible, valuable, and relevant. Characterized by its impact on discipline-related knowledge development guiding professional practice, the environment domain assumes an integral “space and place” in human healthcare practice.

Abstract: Construction work has a high-risk workplace. Construction workers are often faced with difficult and dangerous working situations. One of the efforts to protect workers in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is by supplying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This study analyzes the correlation between knowledge and compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) used in construction workers. This paper correlated quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach. The study population was all construction workers at EMC Alam Sutera Hospital, South Tangerang, totaling 70 people. There were 70 respondents with a total sampling technique. The instruments were PPE compliance observation sheets and PPE knowledge questionnaires. Data analysis was univariate and bivariate analysis. Results showed that most respondents were 40 or older (60%). In addition, half of them had secondary and tertiary education (54.3%). Most also had good knowledge about PPE (65.7%). Of the 46 construction workers with good PPE knowledge, 42 complied with PPE use (91.3), and only four were not compliant (8.7%). Meanwhile, of the 24 construction workers with poor knowledge of PPE, 11 were not compliant with PPE use (45.8%), and 13 were compliant (54.3%). The statistical test results obtained were p=0.001. Thus, there was a significant correlation between knowledge and compliance with PPE use in respondents. In conclusion, knowledge correlates compliance with PPE uses among construction workers in EMC Alam Sutera Hospital, South Tangerang City. The hospital should provide recommendations to construction companies at EMC Alam Sutera Hospital, South Tangerang City, regarding using full PPE for construction workers.

Abstract: Breast cancer ranks first for women worldwide, with an incidence rate of 40 per 100,000 women with a death rate of 21.5% per year. It is estimated that around 15% of all female deaths worldwide are caused by breast cancer. Breast cancer causes physical and psychological problems simultaneously related to the disease or its treatment. One of the most common disturbances in breast cancer patients is stress. Stressors that breast cancer patients constantly face can impact the disruption of the hormone melatonin and increase adrenaline and cortisol hormones, resulting in disturbed sleep quality of cancer patients. Research objective: To determine the relationship between stress levels and sleep quality in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Research method: Correlational quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach. The total sample is 156 breast cancer patients taken by purposive sampling technique. Results: The results of the univariate analysis showed that most breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at Dharmais Cancer Hospital experienced severe stress (51.9%), and most had poor sleep quality (60.9%). The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between stress levels and sleep quality in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at the Dharmais Cancer Hospital in 2022 (p-value: 0.000). Conclusions and Suggestions: It is hoped that the hospital will carry out stress management in cancer patients by providing health education or with relaxation techniques. So, it is hoped that this can improve the sleep quality of cancer patients

Abstract: The increasing trend of childhood obesity is becoming an imminent concern in both developed and developing countries. Besides genetic predisposition, environmental and social factors are contributory factors to this global epidemic. These factors include maternal feeding practices and style. This study determined mothers' parental feeding styles in the province of Ilocos Sur and the factors that predict them. Also, the study ascertained if parental feeding styles are related to the child's Body Mass Index (BMI). This study used the descriptive-correlational research method and included 156 mothers with children aged 2-3. Respondents were chosen purposively. The Parental Feeding Style Questionnaire developed by Wardle et al. (2002) was used to gather the needed data. For data analysis, the frequency and percentage, mean, multiple regression, and Pearson product-moment of correlation were used. This study concluded that mothers vary in their characteristics and so on their feeding styles. Based on study results, they have high levels of encouragement and emotional feeding and average levels of instrumental feeding and control over feeding. However, encouragement feeding is the dominant feeding style among respondents among the four feeding styles. Various maternal traits have been found to predict a specific parental feeding style except for the control over feeding subscale. Additionally, only encouragement feeding was found to have an indirect correlation with a child's BMI.

Abstract: Jails in the Philippines have established rehabilitation programs and services for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs). These activities are a means of PDLS’ reformation and preparation for their reintegration into society. The study assessed the level of adequacy and level of satisfaction of the PDLs on the rehabilitation programs and services of the Ilocos Sur Provincial Jail during the Calendar Year 2018. The study used the descriptive-correlational research method and involved 186 PDLs in the Ilocos Sur Provincial Jail. Data were gathered through a questionnaire checklist and were analyzed using statistical tools such as frequency and percentage, mean and simple linear correlation analysis. Results showed that the rehabilitation programs and services of the facility were very adequate (x =2.96), and the respondents’ level of satisfaction with these programs and activities was very high (x =3.80). The age of the respondents (r=.142) and the level of adequacy of the institution’s rehabilitation program and services (r=.450) are significantly related to their level of satisfaction with these programs and services. The researchers then recommend the following: 1) the facility should innovate in its delivery or implementation of rehabilitation programs and services to elicit consistent satisfaction from beneficiaries regardless of their personal characteristics; 2) the institution should conduct needs assessments regularly to be able to obtain information on the activities the beneficiaries are interested in; 3) the institution should continue its partnerships with academic institutions and other non-government organizations in its implementation of the rehabilitation programs and services, and 3) A similar study can be conducted the inclusion of the BJMPs in Ilocos Sur as the locale of the study and the ISPJ and BJMPs’ Personnel as respondents.

Abstract: This article aimed to explore issues of concern related to quarantine, its social consequences and influences, challenging its effects on human behavioral expressions during social isolation. The advent of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic impacted human lives in multifarious ways, threatening the meaning of normalcy. Quarantine, lockdown, isolation, and other terms reflecting conditions limiting human freedoms have become synonymous in importance to safety, security, and survival. To understand human defiance in the face of maintaining limited mobility during the COVID-19 pandemic, reimagining situations of “unfreedoms” is explained as thinking of changes to inspire and improve the meaning of living lives meaningfully. During the pandemic, issues regarding healthcare practices and social behaviors focused much attention on interactive challenges that enhance ways to mitigate the spread of contagious diseases. Illuminating these issues, discussing concerns and highlighting recommendations to engage in alternative approaches and practices, heightens the declaration of efficiency of quarantine outcomes and effectiveness. Implications are proposed with the hope that they may lead the way forward in exercising contemporary healthcare practices.

Abstract: Evidence-based practice (EBP) has been regarded as the gold standard of clinical practice in the health profession. However, even though the importance of EBP is well documented in the nursing literature, in developing countries, its implementation remains a challenge. In addition to individual and organizational barriers to EBP implementation, the existence of the academician-clinician divide is a critical concern. This seeming disconnect has significantly hampered the translation of knowledge into practice. Hence, collaborative dyadic engagements between the academician and clinicians have to be nurtured. The Accelerating Research evidence translation through Dyadic Engagement (ARDE) Model, a pragmatic way of facilitating the enculturation of EBP, is proposed and collaborative efforts in solving clinically relevant nursing issues will pave the way for EBP to become an integral part of clinical practice.
