University of Northern Philippines, Vigan City

The establishment of the ceramics center of the university started in 1988 as venue of the conduct of research on the improvement and development of ceramics products that would farm basis in the technical assistance the university could provide to enhance the livelihood productivity of the community every dependent on ceramics production. Under then the supervision of the University Research Center, it was initially housed in a dilapidated single storey building.
Aside from doing research and extension activities, it was transformed in 1998 into Ceramics Development Training Center that produced and marketed ceramics products to generate income for the university. The operation of the center is now in newly refurbished and expanded building which is under the supervision of the Office of the President and headed by a Director.
The revenue generated from ceramics sales is treated as trust fund in the university's accounting system. Expenses relative to its operation are charge to its account, whatever left becomes an income of the University.
