The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) through the College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD) has successfully signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of Ilocos Sur to strengthen the Bamboo Industry Program and promote forthcoming activities for the College on May 24 at the CFAD Building.

This partnership aims to encourage the growth and development of the bamboo industry in the province, as well as provide opportunities for students to explore their creativity and hone their skills in the field of arts and design.

Under the agreement, DTI will provide technical assistance to UNP in the production and consultancy services for the bamboo industry cluster. This includes training and capacity-building programs, as well as assistance in product development and information drives.

In the same manner, UNP will offer its expertise in the field of arts and design to enhance the design and aesthetics of bamboo products. CFAD will also provide opportunities for students to engage in bamboo-related activities such as research, product development, and workshops.

This partnership is a significant milestone for both the Department of Trade and Industry and the University of Northern Philippines. It will not only contribute to the economic development of the province but also provide a platform for students and faculty to showcase their talents and creativity.

This also highlights the importance of promoting sustainable and eco-friendly industries that support the local economy and contribute to the preservation of the environment.

The successful signing of the MOA is a testament to the power of collaboration and partnership. Through the joint efforts of the two institutions, the bamboo industry in the province will be strengthened, and opportunities for students in the field of arts and design will be expanded.
