DMNS faculty extend math, science tutorials to a Vigan high school
Responsive to the University’s development goal of providing relevant and sustainable services to the community, the faculty members of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences extended their hands to the students and teachers at the Vigan National High School East through a tutorial focused on mathematics and science.
The science tutorials were held in January to February 2024, while the mathematics tutorials were held in February.
The program is based on a pre-assessment survey conducted by the DMNS faculty members. Accordingly, they found that the students struggled to understand higher mathematics because they are also hard up with the basic concepts of mathematics.
Meanwhile, in science, the students had struggles with general chemistry, general science, earth science, biology, and physics.
As such, the tutorials equipped the learners with the basic knowledge in these fields, as well as techniques in solving problems. Ultimately, they were helped with overcoming their academic challenges and engaging in independent learning.
