CHTM holds housekeeping training

The University of Northern Philippines, in collaboration with the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the Vigan Accommodation Entrepreneurs Associations, Inc. (VAEA), organized a comprehensive housekeeping training at Hotelinda Suites in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur on August 28, 2024.

The training was designed to enhance the professional skills of transient house and homestay operators across the Heritage City of Vigan.

The trainers were CHTM faculty members Glenn J. Benzon and Adrian O. Quitoriano.

The goal of the training was to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain impeccable cleanliness and hygiene in their establishments to ensure guest satisfaction.

A highlight of the training was the bed-making contest, which tested participants’ efficiency, speed, and attention to detail, all essential aspects of excellent housekeeping. This contest added a competitive and engaging element to the workshop, allowing participants to practice their skills in a fun and challenging way.

A total of 36 participants from different transient houses and homestays in Vigan City attended the event.

The program emphasized housekeeping best practices, focusing on hygiene and safety, while also providing insights into maintaining the heritage appeal of Vigan’s unique accommodations.

The training also provided a platform for networking, where local business owners were able to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore potential collaborations.

By fostering these connections, the program sought to create a unified approach to hospitality that supports the sustainable growth of the local tourism industry in Vigan City as a premier heritage destination.
