UNP partners with Salindeg for community development
The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) has strengthened its commitment to community development through a signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Barangay Salindeg, Vigan City.
The MOA signing ceremony, held on May 10, 2024, was graced by the presence of Brgy. Capt.Constante V. Benzon and Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, UNP President, represented by Dr. Aurelia T. Vitamog, Laboratory Schools Principal.
Also present were Prof. May Evelia V. Ruadap and Mr. Randall F. Rabacal, extension coordinators.
This MOA paves the way for collaborative efforts between UNP and Barangay Salindeg on various initiatives. The focus of this initial partnership is on empowering the community through a training program on turnip processing.
The training, facilitated by Ms. Arlene Kriszel Tabbuac and organized by Dr. Anita A. Arlegui, provided valuable skills to residents, equipping them to turn turnips into marketable products. Dr. Clarita Pere, Ms. Erika Gascon, and Mrs. Avelina Tabios served as expert trainers.
This partnership between UNP and Brgy. Salindeg serves as a model for community engagement. By working together, the University and the local government can create a positive impact on the lives of residents and contribute to the overall development of Vigan City.
