UNP-NSTP conducts pre-immersion and bloodletting activity

The University Northern Philippines National Service Training Program (UNP-NSTP) recently conducted a Pre-Immersion Seminar and Bloodletting Activity in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on December 7, 2024, at the UNP Gymnasium.

This initiative aims to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for their community projects and school-based experiences during their immersion program. It also emphasizes the significance of blood donation in saving lives and encourages both students and instructors to actively participate in life-saving activities.

Pres. Cadorna, expressed his gratitude towards NSTP students for their engagement in such meaningful activities. He commended the UNP community for their spirit of volunteerism aimed at enhancing community welfare and improving conditions at UNP.

The event featured presentations by Prof. Roderick Ian Dacanay, coordinator of LTS, who talked about Community Need Assessment, Ms. Ana Lead Alconis, coordinator of CWTS, outlined the requirements for project proposals related to community immersion and the team including Mr. Jethro Jay Rafanan, Mr. Reynart Reyes, Ms. Gerthrude Ablog, and Ms. Charlene Natividad from PRC discussed the benefits of blood donation and provided insights into basic life support techniques.

Additionally, a Memorandum of Agreement was forged between UNP and PRC to foster collaborative programs aimed at benefiting the UNP community. The ceremony was attended by Atty. Carmelita Crisologo, Chairman of the PRC Ilocos Sur Board of Directors, Ms. Veronica Tactay, PRC Ilocos Sur Administrator, Dr. Carlo Ventura, Director of NSTP, Engr. Nestor Pajaro, and Dr. Erwin Cadorna, UNP President.

This event highlights the NSTP’s commitment to enhancing civic consciousness among students while promoting active participation in community service and blood donation initiatives as vital components of their educational experience.
