In commemoration of the university founder’s death anniversary, the University of Northern Philippines conducted the Floro S. Crisologo Lecture Series on 18 October 2022 at the Tadena Hall.
Anchored on the theme, “UNP at 57: Sustaining Now Normal Education Through Technology, Well-being, and Collaboration,” the lecture series aimed to equip the UNP personnel with the necessary set of competencies and skills.
Dr. Juan Primitivo P. Petrola, Education Supervisor II, CHED-RO1, was the guest of honor and speaker. In his talk, he focused on the importance of professionalism in the context of government service and the practice of intellectual humility both towards fellow educators and students.
“A professional does not hate corrections, but uses them for growth and development,” he quipped.
Dr. Petrola also discouraged corruption practices in the workplace, reminding the participants that they are public officers who swore to serve the masses and abide by the law.
“Do the right thing even if no one is looking, and never do the wrong thing even if everybody’s doing it. After all, a public office is a public trust,” he further emphasized.
Ms. Orchid P. Crisologo, the 4th child of the late Hon. Floro S. Crisologo, on behalf of her family, extended her gratitude to UNP for annually conducting the lecture series to honor the memory and contributions of their father. She also commended Dr. Petrola for having a vision like that of her father and for inspiring the attendees to be good professionals.
