UNP inks MOA with CLSU

On January 6, 2025, the University of Northern Philippines – College of Architecture (UNP-CArch) and Central Luzon State University (CLSU) formalized a significant partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). This collaboration is centered on the “Preservation of Central Luzon State University Historical Structures Towards the Establishment of the Proposed Cultural and Heritage District.” The initiative aims to identify, document, and conserve CLSU’s tangible cultural heritage properties, leveraging UNP’s technical expertise alongside CLSU’s commitment to cultural preservation.

The MoA signing was attended by UNP President Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, Dean Ar./EnP. Fatima Nicetas Rabang-Alonzo, and other faculty members. Their presence highlighted UNP’s dedication to advancing architectural education while actively safeguarding cultural heritage. As part of this agreement, the UNP College of Architecture will lead the assessment and documentation of CLSU’s historic structures, providing expert recommendations for their restoration and conservation.

This partnership not only emphasizes a mutual commitment to promoting Filipino architectural heritage but also aims to establish a sustainable cultural and heritage district at CLSU. The collaboration is anticipated to create a lasting impact on both institutions and the broader community, showcasing the transformative potential of education in preserving cultural legacies.

As this initiative unfolds, it serves as a testament to the importance of educational partnerships in fostering cultural awareness and conservation efforts in the Philippines.
