UNP inks MOA with LGU Salcedo for Skills Training Initiatives

 

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Salcedo signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on May 29, 2024, at Salcedo, Ilocos Sur. The collaboration aimed to enhance community skills through targeted training programs. The initiative, led by the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) in collaboration with the University Extension Office (UEO).

The skills training initiatives will help build the capacity of the local community, enabling them to address various challenges and opportunities more effectively. This capacity building can have long-term benefits for the community, including improved disaster preparedness and response.

The skills training initiatives by University of Northern Philippines (UNP) for the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Salcedo will have a positive impact on the local community in several ways, as it focuses on providing practical skills, such as comprehensive haircutting training, which will equip individuals with valuable skills that can be applied in various settings.

Additionally, a follow-up skills training on cacao innovation is planned, further broadening the range of skills available to the community. By enhancing the skills of the local community, the initiative contributes to the overall development of Salcedo, fostering a more self-sufficient and resourceful population. The partnership also demonstrates a commitment to collaborative efforts, which can lead to more effective and sustainable community development projects in the future.

Lastly, the skills training initiatives will have a significant and lasting impact on the local community in Salcedo, enhancing their skills, capacity, and overall well-being.
