The University of Northern Philippines–Laboratory Schools (UNP-LS), in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur, officially launched a sports clinic under Project BOLA: Bodily Ornaments for Learners’ Athletic Development on October 3, 2026, in Poblacion, Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur.
The initiative brought together student-athletes and coaches from UNP-LS, Lussoc National High School, Naglaoa-an National High School, and Benito Soliven Academy to promote athletic development in volleyball and basketball and identify priority areas for further training and support.
As part of the initial activity, participating student-athletes engaged in friendly games in both sports. The results will serve as a basis for planning future sports-related extension initiatives that are responsive to the needs of the participating schools and learners.
The program started with a welcome address by Dr. Aurelia Vitamog, Principal of UNP-LS, followed by the presentation of the participating schools’ sports teams.
The program also featured Mr. Christian Renier Pola, as he delivered a talk on gender equality in sports, emphasizing the importance of inclusive participation in athletic activities for all learners.
Lastly, the clinic was formally inaugurated through a ceremonial tossing of the ball, led by Dr. Vitamog and Mr. Harry Law Lazo, Chair of the Municipal Youth Development Program, together with coaches representing the participating schools.
Project BOLA marks just the beginning of a long-term partnership between UNP-LS and the LGU of Santo Domingo to empower young athletes. With continued support and collaborative programs, the initiative aims to build a stronger, more inclusive sports culture in the municipality and beyond.
