Strengthening its commitment to grassroots socio-economic growth, the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) Department of Languages and Humanities launched the T.A.M.A.G. project (Taguyod, Aksyon, Mabuluhan, Adhikain, Gawaing-Paglilingkod) on September 24, 2026.
The event featured the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Barangay Tamag under the university’s flagship “Adopt-a-Community Program”. Spearheaded by project organizer Dr. Evelyn D. Amano alongside faculty members, the initiative addresses poverty alleviation, health enhancement, and quality-of-life improvements for residents in UNP’s immediate host community.
The extension agenda directly integrates key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Quality Education, Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Partnerships for the Goals.
The gathering convened 45 key participants, combining seven UNP faculty educators with 38 community stakeholders, including local barangay officials headed by Mr. Renato Rabot, Barangay Health Workers (BHW), and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS). By bridging academic resources with local leadership, UNP continues to reinforce its role as a proactive catalyst for sustainable community development.
