Helping young learners make informed choices about their academic and professional futures, Ms. Celeste Bianca Pajaro, Information Officer II of the University of Northern Philippines – University Information Office, joined the Career Pathing Activity of St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur as one of its invited resource speakers on September 10, 2026.
Spearheaded by the SPCIS High School Guidance Services, in collaboration with the High School Academic Unit, the activity formed part of the school’s Career Pathing initiatives for Grade 11 learners under the theme “Steering Towards My Future.”
Invited in her capacity as an SPCIS alumna, Ms. Pajaro discussed the different factors students should consider when making academic and career decisions, including their interests, strengths, values, and personal goals. She encouraged the students to understand themselves first as they explore their possible career paths.
Emphasizing self-awareness as a crucial foundation for making purposeful decisions, she reminded Grade 11 students to “know yourself before you choose for yourself” as they prepare to navigate the important decisions that will shape their college education and future careers. Her message underscored the need for students to understand their interests, strengths, values, and aspirations before choosing an academic path aligned with their goals.
Drawing from her own academic and professional journey, Ms. Celeste Bianca Pajaro encouraged the students to view their transition from Senior High School to college and, eventually, the workplace as a continuing journey of learning, growth, and discovery. She emphasized the importance of remaining open to new experiences and opportunities, noting that students’ interests, aspirations, and career goals may evolve over time as they acquire knowledge, encounter new challenges, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the paths they wish to pursue.
