In line with its mission of continuously extending its services to the stakeholders, the University of Northern Philippines through the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension instigated its first-ever Volunteerism Week on 23 February 2022 at the Gawad Kalinga Horizon Village, Brgy. San Sebastian, San Vicente, Ilocos Sur. The University’s Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Gawad Kalinga Community development Foundation and LGU San Vicente was also renewed. Present at the event were Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, UNP President; Mr. Jose Luis M. Oquinena, Chairman, GK Community Development Foundation; Hon. Jose C. Tabanda III, Mayor, San Vicente, Ilocos Sur; Dr. Fatima F. Rocamora, UNP-VP for Research and Extension; Dr. Christopher F. Bueno, OIC-Director, UNP Extension Office; and other UNP faculty and staff. Aside from the MOA signing, house refurbishing, and clean-up activities were also conducted with the help of the different UNP academic units and offices. Faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Business Administration and Accountancy also led a coastal clean-up at San Vicente, Ilocos Sur. These activities conducted are part of the university’s line-up of events in celebration of Dr. Cadorna’s birthday.
