The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Politecnico di Milano Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering (Politecnico-DABC) held at the Office of the President at the Administration Building on April 12.

Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, President of UNP, signed the MOU aimed at creating potential collaborations in field studies, research, project participation, calls for proposals, training, publications, and conferences.

In addition, the partnership between the two institutions involved establishing mutual cooperation to promote research activities and preliminary studies on characterizing and analyzing the heritage structures of Vigan City before undertaking interventions to protect  structures from natural hazards.

Through this partnership, collaborative efforts between two institutions aimed to protect heritage structures in one of the Seven Wonders Cities of the World, particularly from earthquakes, ensuring safety for occupancy, while also fostering research and academic partnerships in the field.
