UNP-BioSoc joins World Earth Day celebration

The UNP-Biology Society (BIOSOC) went above and beyond though a series of impactful activities to mark World Earth Day celebrated on April 22, 2024. The first in the series is an encouragement of UNP BIOSOC members to change their profile picture frames as a way to unite and raise awareness about the crisis humankind are in and making footprint embodying biodiversity.

Moreover, BIOSOC members took practical steps to reduce plastic consumption or plastic detox through the usage of tumbler instead of buying plastic bottled products and posted their photos showcasing the use of tumblers on the UNP-Biology Society page.

Before starting the Earth Walk, BIOSOC members warmed up their bodies and moods with an exciting Zumba. Led by the BIOSOC Officers, the Zumba energized the participants, creating a lively atmosphere for the day’s events and promoting a sense of solidarity and enjoyment among all participants involved.

The highlight of the day was indeed the Earth Walk, where members of BIOSOC, alongside students, faculty, and other participants, marched around the UNP oval in a powerful display of environmental advocacy. Armed with posters bearing messages of conservation and sustainability, participants marched in solidarity, spreading awareness about the urgent need to protect our planet for future generations.

As they circled the oval, participants didn’t just talk the talk—they walked the walk, quite literally, by picking up litters and garbage along the way. Their actions spoke loudly about their commitment to make a real impact in their surroundings, highlighting the importance of human responsibility in maintaining the planet’s natural beauty and resources.

The UNP-Biology Society’s diverse approach to celebrate World Earth Day demonstrates the capacity of collaborative action to influence positive change. BIOSOC members and other participants displayed their continuous commitment to environmental stewardship via activism, education, and hands-on projects, leaving a lasting impression on the campus and community.
