BS EnP program holds first Vesting Ceremony

The BS Environmental Planning (BSENP) program held its first Vesting Ceremony on March 10, 2025, at UNP Tadena Hall, marking students’ transition from academic training to their Service-Learning Arrangement (SLA). Families, guests, and university officials attended the event to show their support.

Ar. Ludivina Lozano, program head, led the vesting, formally presenting students with their vests as a symbol of their preparedness for fieldwork. Dr. Fatima Nicetas Rabang-Alonzo, Dean, then reaffirmed the program’s commitment to equipping students with the necessary expertise in environmental planning.

Keynote speaker EnP. Francis Raquel, President of the Ilocos Sur Chapter of the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners and Local Government Operations Officer IV of Santa Catalina LGU, discussed career opportunities and the growing demand for environmental planners, highlighting their role in sustainable development.

Also present at the event were Dr. Rolando Navarro, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Engr. Satornino Tablada. Delivering a message on behalf of University President Dr. Erwin Cadorna, Engr. Tablada emphasized the students’ crucial role in shaping resilient communities, protecting green spaces, and driving sustainable development.

Reinforcing this responsibility, a message from University President Dr. Erwin Cadorna, delivered by Engr. Saturnino Tablada, stated, “Your responsibilities extend far beyond the conventional understanding of environmental planning. You are the planners of resilient communities, the guardians of our precious green spaces, and the masterminds behind the development of thriving, sustainable developments.”

A student video presentation followed, showcasing their motivations for choosing and staying in the program, as well as their commitment to environmental planning, community development, and sustainability.
