Kia Francoise O. Corpuz’s sixth-place finish in the September 2026 Social Workers Licensure Examination is more than a remarkable academic achievement. Earning an impressive 92.20 percent rating, her success is the culmination of a journey anchored in faith, strengthened by family, guided by mentors, sustained by disciplined preparation, and driven by a deep commitment to service.
A resident of Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, Corpuz is the daughter of Arnel and Vanessa Corpuz. Her national achievement contributed to a historic milestone for the University of Northern Philippines which placed two graduates among the country’s Top 10.
Her remarkable year began with another distinction. During UNP’s 61st Commencement Exercises, she graduated Magna Cum Laude and Valedictorian of Cluster V, urging her fellow graduates to measure success not only through achievements but also through integrity, compassion, and service.
Social work became her calling through her mother, Vanessa, who introduced her to the profession’s possibilities. During her college application, Corpuz changed her priority course to BS Social Work—a decision that would shape her future.
Her passion for service had already taken root through the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, where she earned the Chief Girl Scout Medalist, her first national recognition.
For the licensure examination, she underwent months of rigorous preparation at CQA Review Center and Echelon Review and Training Center, maintaining a disciplined seven-day-a-week routine. Still, she credited her success to the strong foundation she received at UNP and the College of Social Work.
“My college foundation was really what guaranteed my confidence to pass—and even place in the top of the board examination,” she said.
Corpuz attributed her achievement to God, her family, mentors, review centers, and the UNP community that helped shape her.
For fellow UNPians, she offered a message of confidence: trust the education and formation they receive, believe in those who guide them, and carry UNP’s culture of excellence wherever they go.
“Always carry the brand of excellence that UNP has instilled in you wherever you go,” she said.
From a mother’s suggestion to a national Top 6 finish, Corpuz’s journey embodies a calling transformed into purpose—anchored in faith, strengthened by excellence, and driven by service.
