About the Center

The Center shall coordinate the conduct of academic research in the fields of Governance, Public Administration, Law, or Policy. Conduct research-related activities such as training along research methodologies, research and ethics review, consultancy services, conferences, and research/journal publications and contribute to effective policies and programs for good governance and quality of life.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

To stimulate research knowledge, skills, production, and utilization in governance and policy toward the development of effective global researchers.

  • To strengthen researchers’ knowledge and competencies in governance and policy through continuous research training, seminars, and capacity-building activities.
  • To enhance research skills in proposal writing, data analysis, academic writing, and ethical research practices.
  • To increase research production by encouraging faculty and students to conduct, present, and publish studies in reputable local and international journals.
  • To promote the utilization of research outputs in policy formulation, decision-making, and governance practices at the local, national, and global levels.
  • To foster international and interdisciplinary research collaboration that supports global standards and perspectives in governance and policy studies.
  • To integrate ethical principles and cultural values in the conduct of research to develop morally upright and socially responsible researchers.

GPRC SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES

Building Capacity Trainings

This training composes three series: Policy Research: A Hands-on Approach to Conceptualization and Problem Identification to understand a policy research problem and effectively conceptualize research questions; Creating Strong Policy Research Proposals: Techniques for Generation, Analysis and Evaluation to provide in-depth training on the key components of an effective policy proposal writing; and Policy Research Proposal Critiquing: Presenting and Receiving Feedback to equip the researchers with the ability to produce high quality and well-supported policy research proposals capable of influencing policy decisions that contribute to positive societal change.

Training on the Utilization of Mixed Method Research is also a vital training to enhance the knowledge and skill of researchers on governance and policy in applying the mixed method of research.

Mentoring and Workshops

Activities falling on mentoring-workshops are Mentoring-Workshop on the Preparation of Full-blown Proposals for Governance and Policy Researches with the aim to ensure realization of the full-blown proposals as per standard requirements in compliance to ISO; Mentoring-Workshop on the Completion of Continuing Researches (unfinished researches) on Governance and Policy to ensure completion of the funded researches.

Research Disseminations

Dissemination of GPRC research outputs aim to be utilized in order to contribute to the community development; and increase awareness of the residents on information affecting them. Included in this activity have the themes as: 1) Strengthening Public Policy Implementation for Safer, Healthier, and Inclusive Communities; 2) The LGU and its digitalization and devolution and 3) The Environment, the Government, and Your Future.

In-House Review

Research proposals and completed research on governance and policy pass the in-house review. Research proposals review lead to the determination of their direction, location, respondents, among others which may result to the enhancement of the title or of the study. On the other hand, inhouse review of completed research, with Grammarly-check and  AI test, prepares for the presentation of said research output in a local, national, or international conference. Reviewers are those considered well-knowledgeable on the study.

Extension Activities

This activity includes MOA Signing with a community or local government unit to serve as partner in the dissemination of research outputs for information and utilization leading to community awareness and development, conduct of needs assessment survey to identify the community problems, and extension of service to contribute to the community development.
