Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur — In celebration of National Fire Prevention Month 2026, the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) Center for Outreach, Development, and Extension (CODE) partnered with Sto. Domingo’s Local Government Unit (LGU)—via its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)—for the MOA Renewal cum Fire Brigade Olympics on March 24 at Sto. Domingo Town Plaza.
The event formalized MOA renewal under new local leadership, recommitting to collaborative extension services like Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Rescue Operations—key to building community resilience.
The highlight of the activity was the Fire Brigade Olympics, where responders, volunteers, and participants competed in skill-based challenges. Teams showcased firefighting techniques, rescue ops, and teamwork in simulated emergencies, underscoring dry-season preparedness amid rising fire risks.
UNP-CODE and partners demonstrated unwavering dedication to safety-conscious communities through hands-on training and strong ties. This initiative exemplifies sustained efforts in public safety and institutional collaboration.
