History

The College of Engineering was established by virtue of Board Resolution No. 26, S. 1966 and was then known as the Institute of Engineering. The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering as a 5-year degree course was sanctioned by Board Resolution No. 644, s. 1973 dated June 16, 1973 affecting the offering of the aforementioned degree course in the school year 1974-1975. On April 28, 1983, Board Resolution No. 20, s. 1983 made official the offering of Bachelor of Science in Sanitary Engineering and Associate in Geodetic Engineering, effective School Year 1983-1984.

In 1994, the Associate in Geodetic Engineering was phased out and by virtue of Board Resolution No. 24, S. 1994, the Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering was added to the course offering of the college which started in SY 1996-1997. The Engineering curriculum has been designed specifically to meet the educational challenge by emphasizing fundamental knowledge, transferable skills, and lifelong learning.

The ongoing changes of the Engineering curriculum based on the establishment of the Outcome-Based Educational System and the revision of policies, standards and guidelines of the Engineering program effective AY 2018-2019 have encountered some revision and innovation in the new curriculum. The five-year program has been reduced into a four-year program because of the implementation of the K to 12 program aligned with the basic educational system, an additional two years for the senior high school are implemented.

The process of growth and development has continued unabated since then, an indication of the College’s commitment in meeting the growing needs of the student population and to further upgrade its academic excellence.

Our Extension Services

The College of Engineering offers three (3) engineering programs namely: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Sanitary Engineering, and Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering.

Its extension services are anchored on the Vision and Mission of the University as well as the goals of the College and the objectives of each program. These are also aligned with the University’s Extension Agenda.

The following are the extension services of the College:

  • Consultancy on engineering works

  • Design of structures

  • Surveying

  • Information drive on proper waste management

  • Technology transfer based on the result of research

  • Training related to engineering professions/works

  • Outreach program

The services extended to the community or target clientele are based on needs assessment as well as through request. To assure the sustainability of the extension services, Memoranda of Agreement are forged between the university and the target clientele. Participation of faculty, students, administration and the target clientele is observed in all the aspects of extension activities.

At present, the College has an active partnership with Barangay Pagsanaan, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur. A feasibility study on the construction of water refilling station is being conducted. It is expected that once the different aspects of a project feasibility study are completed, the implementation of the construction will be the next extension service to be rendered in the said barangay. Furthermore, training on the operation and maintenance of the project is also one of the programs for the said barangay.
