As one of the academic units of the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), the 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒎 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 (CHTM) has evolved distinctively as it does today from what it was primarily created for. Prompted by the shared desire between the UNP administration and the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur. This started the rigorous authorization process that would permit CHTM to fully operate as a legitimate academic institution and take advantage of the chance to manifest its relevance as a global partner in promoting sustainable growth and development.

“The College of Health Sciences helped me a lot with who I am, what I am, and where I am now. Five years ago, when I decided to continue and finish my education with my chosen field of profession for me to get a bachelor’s degree. Regardless of my age, with too much courage and strength to fulfill and continue my dreams, it helped me become a better individual, fully equipped with knowledge and skills. Regardless of age, social status, and religious orientation, we are obliged to learn and continue to educate ourselves for us to make a great contribution for the betterment of our country. Indeed, CHS helped me. Our great professors taught us well. Meeting new friends and new faces with different cultures and beliefs is an additional experience. I enjoyed my stay at the CHS because the environment is very comfortable & conducive for us students.”

“How has the CHS helped me become who I am now? It primarily helped me to rise through the ranks and become a Midwife III. With more and more careers requiring advanced education, earning my college degree in UNP-CHS greatly contributed to my success. As I have attained such a milestone in my life, it paved the way for me to better serve my fellows and be more committed to the organization by sharing my input and learnings whenever needed. And most importantly, I achieved my personal goal in life regardless of my age. CHS taught me to become a lifetime learner. Having experience is more effective when there is learnt theoretical knowledge on how to properly perform the job.
Looking back, I will be forever grateful to be an alumna of UNP-CHS. But some of my best moments include my two-hour trip from home to the University, and unending work duties in various health centers and hospitals such as the Gabriela Silang Hospital, Magsingal District Hospital, and Sto. Domingo RHU. It was exhausting but fulfilling at the same time. Second was aiding and providing care to the patients I met and the support and guidance I had during those times will never be forgotten. Lastly, being one of the older adults studying in college made me self-conscious. However, the younger adults treat me as one of their own – capable and highly motivated.”
