UNP signs MOA with Daclapan for community support initiatives

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) and Barangay Daclapan, a coastal barangay in Cabugao Ilocos Sur, officially entered into a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on July 19, 2024, at the Barangay Covered Court in Daclapan, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.

This partnership aims to promote livelihood and tackle environmental issues within the community. It stems from a community assessment carried out by the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (DMNS) which identified crucial needs and priorities for sustainable growth in the area.

The MOA acts as a binding document outlining the duties of both UNP and the local government. It includes provisions for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the progress of initiatives established through this partnership. This structured approach ensures that actions taken are efficient and in line with what the community requires.

Apart from the MOA signing, a featured talk on ecotherapy was also held, focusing on the physical health advantages of engaging with nature. This aspect highlights the significance of health and how natural surroundings contribute to community well-being.

The MOA signing between UNP and Barangay Daclapan signifies a stride, towards putting into action practical strategies derived from the community assessment. This collaboration strives to improve the well-being of the people living in Daclapan while tackling the urgent environmental issues affecting them.
