NSCUAA concludes, celebrates triumph of unity, sportsmanship, and youth excellence

The 2025 National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (NSCUAA) Games officially concluded in Camiguin Island, marking the end of a spirited week that brought together more than 5,000 student-athletes from 113 state universities and colleges (SUCs) across 16 regions. Hosted by Camiguin Polytechnic State College in partnership with the Provincial Government of Camiguin, the games ran from April 23 to 27, 2025, under the theme “Advancing SUC Unity, Elevating Sports Excellence for Sustainable Development.”

Throughout the event, athletes competed in a diverse array of sports, including archery, athletics, arnis, badminton, basketball, boxing, chess, dancesport, e-sports, futsal, football, karate-do, lawn tennis, pencak silat, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, and volleyball. The competitions were marked not only by the pursuit of medals but by the display of discipline, resilience, and camaraderie among participants.

Leaders from the education sector, including PASUC President Dr. Tirso Ronquillo and Camiguin Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo, emphasized that the SCUAA Games transcend competition, serving as a platform for character-building, friendship, and national pride.

The closing ceremony was a vibrant celebration of athletic achievement and regional pride. Delegations like the National Capital Region, represented by 413 athletes-199 of whom were from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-showcased their talents and brought home numerous medals. Other standout performers included the Tarlac State University Firefoxes, who advanced to the national stage after a strong showing in the regional Olympics, and the Pangasinan State University Golden Lions, who earned the right to represent Region I after excelling in the PASUC Culture and Arts Festival and SCUAA sports events.

Awarding ceremonies recognized not only the champions but also the coaches, trainers, and support staff whose dedication made the event possible. Dr. Galas of Pangasinan State University reminded athletes that “Sports is not just about winning – it’s a celebration of your passion, your talent, and perseverance.”

As the curtains fall on the 2025 National SCUAA Games, the legacy of unity, sportsmanship, and youth empowerment remain. The event emphasized the role of athletics in shaping well-rounded individuals and fostering a sense of national community.

The 2025 National SCUAA Games in Camiguin will be remembered not only for the medals won but for the friendships forged, the lessons learned, and the enduring spirit of Filipino youth and nationhood.
