OVPRE distributes reading materials and flyers to schools

 

The Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension headed by Dr. Fatima F. Rocamora distributed reading materials and flyers to schools adopted by the University.

The distribution held on December 18, 2024 had Callaguip Elementary School, Fuerte National High School, Pantay Tamurong National High School, Parparia Elementary School, Sacuyya Elementary School, and Sallacong Elementary School as recipients of reading materials from Gawad Kalinga.

On Decembet 19, Solotsolot National High School and Naglaoan National High Schools were handed flyers along human rights protection. The distribution is part of the University’s commitment of being a Center for Human Rights Education.

With Dr. Rocamora in the distribution was Prof. May Evelia Ruadap, University Extension Office Coordinator.

Also, the University, in partnership with the Commission on Human Rights, conducted a Legal Clinic in Nagsincaoan, Cabugao Ilocos Sur on November 22, 2024. The activity aimed to provide information and clear understanding on human rights and updates of human rights laws to the civil society organizations to equip residents with the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for the protection and promotion of human rights within their community.

In the same community, barangay Nagsincaoan, including Nagsincaoan Elementary School, both were venues of community immersion of students in Educational Leadership and Management in Educational Institutions of the College of Teacher Education’s Doctor of Education. The activity held on December 1, 2024 aimed to enhance classroom learning by putting theory into practice which is important in developing the civic consciousness and spirit of volunteerism of learners.
