With the themes “BATONLAGIP: Kinatao ken Kannawidan Kadagiti Arwaten ken Salsala ni Filipino” and “Honoring the Past, Embracing the Present: A Showcase of Filipino Tradition,” the Physical Education and Arts-Dynamic Developers Enthusiasts Club (PADDEC) of the Bachelor of Physical Education program hosted its third year of culminating activity in culture and the arts, featuring a basic orientation on gender expression and identity at the CTE Function Hall, December 16.

The event began with a seminar on Gender Expression and Gender Identity by Atty. Katrynn Louise R. Eder, who highlighted gender roles, manifestations of gender bias, and how to advocate gender equality.

“If we are more diverse, then we can learn more from others; we can share more in society,” she emphasized in her lecture.

Afterward, the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) students showcased their cultural enthusiasm through a fashion show featuring ethnic, Ilokano, Spanish colonial, and modern Filipino attires.

Mark Angelo Tubon and Hannah Jahzel Martin won Best in Ethnic Attire; Joey Castro and Lourdes Dela Cruz shone in the Ilokano category; Joshua Angelo and Peralta Mariel Del Rosario dazzled in Spanish colonial attire, while Gabriel Isaac Fieldad and Kristin Nicole Afroilan received Best in Modern Filipiniana and Barong.

The event concluded with a cultural dance showcase from Ilocano to Filipino folk dances, emphasizing the essence of Philippine dances as cultural heritage.

“Even though we had limited preparation time, I saw this event become successful due to the teamwork and hard work of the BPEd students,” said Jann Rodney Cadaoas, president of PADDEC.
