UNP undergoes QMS recertification audit

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) is presently having the Quality Management System (QMS) recertification audit facilitated by SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. The audit period spans from December 4 to December 6, 2024. It commenced with an opening program that welcomed the auditors and introduced them to UNP’s process owners and internal auditors.

The SOCOTEC team is led by Ms. Grace Reyes, the lead auditor, accompanied by Mr. John Joseph Denoga and Ms. Maria Fatima Mercurio as support auditors. The event featured welcome remarks from Dr. Rolando Navarro, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who expressed gratitude for the dedication of the Quality Management Office (QMO) and internal auditors in helping the University meet the evolving needs of its clientele.

The program also included a cultural performance by the UNP Danggay Saririt Dance Troupe, showcasing the University’s rich cultural heritage. Following this, Dr. Erwin Cadorna, UNP President, delivered a message emphasizing the importance of the QMS in enhancing educational services and student experiences.

“Through our quality management system, we have strengthened our capacity to deliver exceptional educational services, enhance student learning experiences, and contribute meaningfully to society,” he stated.

After that, Ms. Reyes presented an overview of the audit process and plan, leading to the commencement of the audit itself.

This audit marks an important step for UNP as it seeks to maintain its ISO 9001:2015 certification, which was initially awarded in December 2021. The certification encompasses various aspects of tertiary education services including instruction, research, extension, production, support operations, and administration.

The current recertification audit is crucial for ensuring that UNP continues to uphold high standards of quality management within its operations. It serves not only as a compliance measure but also as an opportunity for continuous improvement in delivering educational services.

As the audit progresses over these three days, UNP aims to demonstrate its commitment to quality management and adherence to international standards. The outcome of this audit will play a significant role in shaping the University’s future endeavors in maintaining excellence in education and service delivery.
