CBAA empowers Uniformed Personnel through Strategic Financial Management Training

Promoting sound financial practices and building economic resilience at the community level, the University of Northern Philippines College of Business Administration and Accountancy (UNP-CBAA) conducted a financial management seminar on October 8, 2026, at Patnubay Hall, Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office (ISPPO) compound.

Dubbed “The Strategic Investor: Training on Wealth Multiplication and Asset Protection,” the daylong seminar was conducted under Project SALIMETMET, a key component of the University of Northern Philippines’ Community Enterprise and Livelihood Development Program designed to equip communities with practical financial knowledge and skills essential to sustainable economic development.

The activity brought together 50 participants—35 men and 15 women—who gained practical insights into diversifying income sources, making informed investment decisions, and safeguarding financial assets. Dr. Katherine Rabbon facilitated the session “Diversifying Beyond the Basics,” guiding participants in identifying investment opportunities and developing additional income streams. Meanwhile, Dr. Via Leal led “Shielding Wealth – Insurance and Risk Management,” which focused on strategies for protecting assets and managing financial risks arising from unforeseen circumstances.

Through the seminar, participants were provided with practical approaches to make their resources work more effectively while strengthening their capacity to make responsible financial decisions and build greater economic resilience.

The activity was spearheaded by the CBAA Extension Unit and the University Extension Office, in partnership with the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office and the College of Open and Distance Education. Ten CBAA faculty members played key roles as resource persons, facilitators, and organizers, ensuring the smooth implementation of the seminar.

Prof. May Evelia Ruadap and Dr. Eileen Rose Paculan served as project coordinators, with Dr. Ace Ferrer and Dr. Nathalie Almero as organizers. Dr. Joedethe Rabara facilitated the sessions, while Dr. Jonah Pecho served as moderator and Mr. Engelbert Casimiro handled the documentation.

Through Project SALIMETMET, UNP-CBAA extends its academic expertise beyond the classroom by translating financial knowledge into practical community-based learning. The initiative seeks to help individuals make informed financial decisions, protect their resources, and develop more secure and resilient livelihoods.
