UNP Accountancy faculty present research, strengthen ASEAN academic linkages at international conference

Faculty members of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) program of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy of the University of Northern Philippines presented research and participated in regional academic discussions during the 13th Midyear Accounting Teachers International Conference (MYATIC) and ASEAN Accounting Education Workgroup (AAEW) Meeting held on October 27–29, 2026, in Bandung, Indonesia.

Organized by the National Association of CPAs in Education (NACPAE), the three-day conference gathered accounting educators, academic leaders, researchers, and stakeholders to discuss developments in accounting education, share teaching practices, and strengthen regional academic collaboration.

Atty. Joy Eulalia-Purugganan, BSA Program Head, presented her research titled “Auditing Involvement and Performance of Accountancy Graduates in a State University in Northern Philippines” during the research presentation session on the second day. Meanwhile, Ms. Kathleen Arconado facilitated the Management of Learning session, synthesizing discussions and key insights from the conference’s technical sessions. Atty. Jayson Rapisura also participated in the seminar and its academic discussions.

The conference covered outcomes-based education and curriculum development, artificial intelligence and accounting analytics, predictive accounting, professional judgment and ethics in the age of AI, research presentations, IFRS sustainability standards, and AI governance. It also featured the AAEW Meeting, which provided a platform for regional dialogue among accounting educators.

As part of the engagement, UNP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the AAEW to establish opportunities for regional cooperation, academic exchange, and collaborative initiatives in accounting education.
