UNP Alumni Day strengthens university-community engagement through service initiatives

Bringing alumni, government agencies, and partner organizations together to advance campus development, promote public health, and expand employment opportunities, the University of Northern Philippines, through its Federated Alumni Association (FAA), spearheaded a series of collaborative initiatives during its Alumni Day celebration on October 16, 2026 as part of the University’s 61st Foundation Anniversary.

Anchored on the theme, “One Alumni Community. A Stronger UNP,” the celebration showcased the Federated Alumni Association’s sustained commitment to university development and community service through three major initiatives: the groundbreaking ceremony for the UNP Café, a bloodletting activity promoting public health and solidarity, and Namnama iti Masakbayan: Annual Job Fair 2026, which provided employment opportunities for job seekers. Together, these activities reflected the alumni community’s active role in advancing campus development, supporting humanitarian causes, and expanding access to livelihood opportunities.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the UNP Café marked a significant step in the University of Northern Philippines’ campus development efforts, highlighting the Federated Alumni Association’s continuing commitment to support projects that enhance the university and benefit its academic community. The initiative also demonstrated the alumni’s active role in contributing to the growth of their alma mater and sustaining a strong partnership with the university administration.

Present at the ceremony were UNP President Dr. Erwin Cadorna; Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Rolando Navarro; Vice President for Administration and Finance Mr. Albert Tejero; Federated Alumni Association President Hon. Nestor Pajaro; and presidents of the university’s unit alumni associations, whose presence reflected a shared commitment to advance campus development and strengthen alumni engagement in university affairs.

Extending its commitment beyond campus development, the UNP-FAA also promoted public health and community solidarity through a bloodletting activity organized in partnership with the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), the Philippine Red Cross–Ilocos Sur Chapter, and the Team Medics Organization of the UNP College of Health Sciences. The initiative provided an avenue for alumni and other participants to contribute to blood donation efforts, supporting the availability of this vital resource for patients in need.

The celebration also opened doors to employment through Namnama iti Masakbayan: Annual Job Fair 2026, which connected prospective employers with job seekers, giving students, graduates, and members of the wider community access to career opportunities in various industries. The job fair was organized through the collaborative efforts of the UNP-FAA, OSAS, the Student Welfare Services Office, and the Career, Job Placement and Alumni Services, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment and the Public Employment Service Office. Through this initiative, the university and its partners advanced employment facilitation by bridging job seekers with potential employers and helping participants explore pathways to professional growth.

Under the leadership of UNP FAA President Hon. Pajaro, the association’s involvement in these initiatives demonstrated the alumni community’s continuing contribution to the University’s growth and its commitment to sustain partnerships that respond to pressing community needs. Their collective efforts highlighted how alumni engagement extends beyond supporting their alma mater, translating shared institutional pride into meaningful action in campus development, public health, and employment generation.

More than a celebration of shared history and achievements, the theme “One Alumni Community. A Stronger UNP” captured the enduring bond between the University and its graduates—a connection strengthened not only by their shared identity as members of the UNP community but also by their continued collaboration in advancing the institution’s mission and creating a positive impact on society.
