UNP initiates stakeholders’ consultation for Research Agenda 2023-2028

With the aim of identifying gaps and potential topics for future research, stakeholders from the University of Northern Philippines spearheaded the 2024 internal stakeholders consultation of the Research Agenda 2023-2028, held on March 18 at the Tadena Hall.

Participants, consisting of faculty, staff, and students, took part in the event, gathered together to discuss researchable topics across various fields in line with the Research Agenda 2023-2028, and identified potential topics for future studies.

Dr. Fatima F. Racamora, Vice President of Research and Extension, in her opening remarks, highlighted that the research agenda provides a clear direction for conducting research, addressing the needs of the University.

UNP President Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna stressed in his message that transparency, one of the core values of the University, fosters community engagement by allowing all stakeholders to contribute to shaping the future research agenda.

“Transparency is just the beginning. The true essence of this consultation lies in our ability to listen—to truly hear and understand the perspectives of one another and incorporate your inputs into the development of our research agenda. Each of you brings a unique set of experiences, learnings, and insights to the table, and it is through the exchange of ideas and dialogue that we can uncover new opportunities, identify emerging trends, and address the most pressing challenges facing our society”. Dr. Cadorna stated.

Additionally, an open forum was conducted to allow participants to ask questions aligned with the Research Agenda to be addressed by the University Research Development Office chiefs and coordinators led by the director, Dr. Edelyn A. Cadorna.

Through this consultation, participants may become familiar with potential topics and collaborate on anchoring them with the Research Agenda. Future plans may involve the participation of external stakeholders to improve various areas that require further discussion.
