BPSU benchmarks at UNP
The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) hosted the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) for a benchmarking activity on September 27, 2024. The activity, held at the Guestel Function Hall, aimed to share best practices from UNP’s Accounting and Property and Supply Management Offices, focusing on enhancing operational strategies, financial management, and supply chain processes.
The benchmarking activity was attended by 30 participants from BPSU’s Accounting and Supply and Management Offices, and notable attendees from BPSU were Prof. Reynan Calderon (Vice President for Administration) and Dr. Neil David (Vice President for Finance).
The event started with the welcome remarks by Dr. Irene Guerrero (officer-in-charge, University Information Office), represented by Ms. Rocelle Villanueva, with a message which set the tone for the event, followed by a video presentation highlighting UNP’s excellence.
Ms. Antonina Lazaro, Human Resource Management Officer, introduced the UNP personnel present in the activity.
Ms. Melissa Pascua, Accountant III, presented key insights into the best practices of UNP’s Accounting Unit, emphasizing innovative financial strategies. These strategies are crucial for ensuring accurate financial reporting and effective budget management, which are essential components of a well-functioning academic institution.
Additionally, Mr. Larry Quilala, Head, Property & Supply Management Office, shared the best practices in his department. His discussion highlighted the importance of effective supply chain management and procurement processes in maintaining operational efficiency.
During the event, Mr. Albert Tejero, Vice President for Finance and Administration, alongside Atty. Gerwin Rabang, Chief Administrative Officer, shared to the BPSU personnel other Accounting and Property and Supply Management best practices. Also present during the benchmarking activity were Atty. Philip Chan (University Legal Officer) and Ms. Mona Briones (Financial Analyst III).
The benchmarking activity not only showcased UNP’s successful operational strategies but also provided BPSU with valuable insights to enhance its administrative functions. The collaboration is expected to lead to significant improvements in BPSU’s practices, ultimately benefiting its community.
