From October 28 to November 8, 2024, the University of Northern Philippines participated in the Virtual Commtech Nusantara 2024, a two-week international event that brought together over 270 participants from 47 universities and schools across the globe. With the theme “Wonderful Asian Cuisine,” this year’s event offered a unique opportunity to explore the rich and diverse cultural and culinary traditions of Asia, with a special focus on Indonesia’s culture and iconic dishes.

The event provided a platform to celebrate the vibrant food culture and history of Indonesia, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the intricate flavors and cooking methods that define the region’s cuisine. Each participant was tasked with creating a poster that showcased one of Indonesia’s traditional dishes, leading to submissions that were as creative as they were insightful.

Two representatives from UNP received awards for their contributions. Ms. Aubrey Belle R. Taiza, an instructor from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, earned a Special Mention for her “Most Engaging Presentation.”

Ms. Rachel Sheimha R. Rabino, a student from the College of Business Administration and Accountancy, was awarded the Favorite Poster distinction for her visually captivating and well-researched design, which effectively captured the essence of Indonesian culinary traditions.

UNP’s participation strengthened its commitment to international collaboration and cultural exploration.
