Teacher Empowerment: A Talk on RA 9710 , the Magna Carta of Women
The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) through the Center for Gender and Development (CGAD), in celebration of Women’s Month, conducted a talk on RA 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women at Basug National High School on March 14, 2025, to promote gender equality and empowerment to educators.
The talk featured the expertise of Atty. Benmar Tabuso of the UNP College of Law, who discussed the key provisions of the Magna Carta of Women.
Atty. Tabuso emphasized the crucial role of teachers in shaping young minds and fostering a culture of respect and equality. He added that the teachers must know their basic rights as women, particularly in their workplace, in order to promote an equal and healthier education system.
During the session, Dr. Mae Oliva Piano, the extension coordinator and some of the educators, engaged in discussions about gender equality in schools, workplace rights, and the responsibilities of teachers in upholding and promoting the principles of the Magna Carta of Women.
