The University of Northern Philippines Admission Services conducted an orientation program and lecture on overcoming test anxiety for first-year teaching students preparing for the Teaching Aptitude Test on April 2, 2025 at the Hostel Function Hall.
The program aimed to familiarize students with the Teaching Aptitude Test, a major requirement for screening and retention in the education program. It also sought to address students’ concerns and fears regarding the examination through a lecture on test anxiety management.
Dr. Rolando B. Navarro, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered his inspirational message while Dr. Leilani Raquepo, Assistant Dean of the College of Teacher Education, welcomes the participants of the orientation.
Ms. Rain A. Alviar, a psychometrician, delivered a talk on “Orientation on the Teaching Aptitude Test.” She provided an in-depth discussion on the structure, purpose, and significance of the exam, ensuring that students understood its role in their academic journey.
Ms. Anne Kleire Rafanan, psychometrician, gave the next lexture which was “Overcoming Test Anxiety.” She shared practical strategies and techniques to help students manage stress and boost confidence while taking high-stakes exams.
An open forum facilitated by Mrs. Precious Lyn Babida allowed students to ask questions and seek clarifications about the exam and anxiety management techniques. The program concluded with a closing message from Dr. Mariano Paterno F. Avila, Director of the Office of Student Affairs and Services.
The initiative equipped future educators with the necessary knowledge and confidence to excel in the Teaching Aptitude Test and their academic careers.
