The Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Joint Closing Ceremony of 921 completers of both basic and advanced ROTC was held on May 24, 2025 at the University of Northern Philippines Gymnasium. Of these completers for the basic ROTC, 788 were from UNP, forty-two from Ilocos Sur Community College, and seventy-two from Divine Word College of Vigan. There were twelve completers of advanced ROTC from UNP, four from DWCV, and two from ISCC.
Dr. Erwin Cadorna, University President in his message underscored the importance of discipline as a student and as a member of the community and stressed the importance of unity, patriotism and camaraderie.
The guest of Honor and Speaker during the closing ceremony was BGen. Dean Mark Mamaril, Commander of 501st IBde, represented by LtCol Ferdinand Baluyot, who said that the graduates should apply in their lives what they learned during the training. “You are the future of our country’s security especially at this time, maging huwarang kabataan kayo na maglilingkod sa bayan” he added.
Also present during the closing ceremony were Dr. Carlo Ventura, NSTP Director, and Hon. Nestor Pajaro, MAJ. Edzel Gambot and some members of the Philippine Army, and reservists led by 1Lt Roberto Reboroso,.
