The Department of Languages and Humanities (DLH) of the College of Arts and Sciences, in partnership with the University Extension Office, spearheaded a Needs Assessment at Tamag Elementary School in Barangay Tamag, Vigan City on September 15, marking a key step in the Adopt-a-Community-School Program aimed at tackling socio-economic challenges through collaborative efforts among educators, students, and barangay officials.
Led by Dr. Evelyn D. Amano and supported by DLH faculty members, the initiative goes beyond gathering dataโit serves as a catalyst for action. Through open dialogue and active civic engagement, the program lays the groundwork for strategic interventions that uplift marginalized groups and strengthen the relationship between the school and its surrounding community.
The activity reflects a strong alignment with key Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education (SDG 4), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). It highlights the Universityโs enduring commitment to inclusive development and long-term social impact.
