The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) secured a major award at the Faculty Research and Extension Congress, held from October 20-22, 2025, at the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) in Ermita, Manila. Organized by the Philippine Consortium for Science, Mathematics, and Technology (PCSMT), with the theme, “Bridging Theory and Practice: Research and Extension Synergies in Science, Mathematics, and Technology.” Capping a successful participation, UNP was awarded 3rd Best Paper in the Extension Project Oral Presentation category.
The extension paper was presented by Mr. Randolf M. Agup, Coordinator of the University Research and Development Office (URDO). The presentation highlighted the extension program, “CONNECT (Creating Opportunities for Next-Gen Network, Education, Culture, and Technology) – Making IT Work.” This program is implemented by the College of Communication and Information Technology (CCIT), in cooperation with URDO and the University Extension Office (UEO).
The UNP delegation participated in multiple categories. In addition to Mr. Agup’s winning oral presentation and the entry in the Extension Project Poster Presentation, Mr. Leo Angelo B. Baja represented the university in the Research Paper Presentation category with the research titled, “V-Track: A Vehicle Tracking System.”
This national recognition underscores UNP’s strong commitment to bridging academic theory with practical, community-oriented solutions.
