Mr. Florentino P. Garcia, a faculty member of the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy (DSSP), earned national recognition after being conferred the Katangi-tanging Gurong Lider Award during the Gawad Gurong Lider (GGL) 2025 on December 6 in Baguio City.
The award was presented during the national convention organized by the Association of Social Sciences Educators for Tradition and Treasures of the Philippines, Inc. (ASSET Phil., Inc.), in partnership with the Kapisanan ng mga Filipinong Awtor at Manunulat sa Pilipinas, Inc. (KAFAMP) and Pangasinan State University (PSU), held on December 4–6 at Hotel 456.
The convention featured academic and creative writing seminars and recognized educators from across the country who exemplify leadership, excellence, and service in their respective fields.
The Gawad Gurong Lider honors educators who serve as officers in professional organizations and demonstrate consistent commitment to advancing the mission, vision, and objectives of their institutions.
Garcia’s achievement shows his dedication to teaching, leadership, and public service, bringing honor to both his department and the university.
