UNP-CTE brings NEXTGEN enrollment drive to Ilocos Sur schools, promoting BTLED and BTVTED programs

The College of Teacher Education launched the BLTED & BTVTED NEXTGEN: School-to-School Enrollment Campaign from March 2 to 6, 2026, reaching selected senior high schools across the Schools Division of Ilocos Sur and Vigan City to inspire graduating Grade 12 students to consider careers in teaching. Through the initiative, the college introduced its Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) and Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED) programs, providing future graduates with valuable insights into academic pathways that prepare them to become skilled and innovative educators in the technical-vocational field.

The enrollment campaign was organized by Mr. Marnie Tabilin and Mr. Arthur Pascua, faculty members of the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) and Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED) programs, under the guidance of Program Head Dr. Jojit Aquino. The initiative also received strong support from Dr. Ma. Teresa Susan Manzano, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, who highlighted the significance of strengthening career awareness among senior high school students, particularly those enrolled in the Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) and Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) tracks, to help them make informed decisions about pursuing teaching careers in technical and vocational education.

The faculty team visited several senior high schools in Ilocos Sur, reaching a wide network of learning institutions as part of the campaign. Among the schools visited were Sinait National High School, Cabugao National High School, Lipit National High School, Sisim National High School, San Juan National High School, Magsingal National High School, Lussoc National High School, Naglaoan National High School, Belen National High School in San Ildefonso, San Vicente Integrated School, San Sebastian National High School, Cabittaogan National High School, Caoayan National High School, Pantay Tamurong National High School, Bantay National High School, Mabilbila Integrated School, Imelda National High School, Narvacan National Central High School, and Ilocos Sur National High School in Vigan City.

Through these visits, the team was able to directly engage with graduating senior high school students and provide them with valuable information about the academic programs and opportunities offered by the university.

During the visits, the faculty members first paid courtesy calls to the school principals before conducting classroom orientations among Grade 12 students. With the assistance of the schools’ TVL teachers, the team conducted room-to-room information sessions, introducing the BTLED and BTVTED programs, their areas of specialization, admission requirements, and career opportunities for future educators.

Participating faculty members included Dr. Rozen Villa, Dr. Ma. Rochelle Cabrales, Dr. Jeanina Batin, Dr. Dave Fontejon, Dr. Efren Galapon, Mr. Jake Quitasol, and Mr. Vic Norman Naval, together with the organizers and program head.

Through this initiative, the College of Teacher Education strengthened its partnership with secondary schools in the province while promoting the BTLED and BTVTED programs to prospective students. The activity also aimed to inspire graduating students to pursue teaching careers and become part of the next generation of educators in the field of Technology and Livelihood Education.
