UNP launches career boost for first-year CPAd students

The University of Northern Philippines launched a vibrant Career Development Support Program for first-year students of the College of Public Administration (CPAd) on March 10, 2026, at the College of Technology Complex Function Hall, marking a significant step in equipping future public servants with the guidance and skills needed to navigate their academic journey and prepare for meaningful careers in public service.

Organized by the Guidance and Counseling Services (GCS) and UNP-DOLE Job Placement Officer Dr. Rodel Rosario, in partnership with Career and Job Placement Services (CJPAS), the event equipped participants with essential tools for career guidance, technical skills, communication, and informed choices to support vocational and personal growth.

Learning resource speakers facilitated a series of engaging and insightful sessions designed to equip students with practical strategies for navigating their career development journey. Mr. Justinne Froi Batalang, the assigned guidance counselor for CPAd, delivered an inspiring talk titled “Consistency: The Power of Showing Up Every Day,” where he emphasized the value of discipline, persistence, and daily commitment in achieving both academic and personal goals.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Rowena Mamuad, Guidance Coordinator, encouraged students to cultivate a strong and resilient outlook through her session “Start Strong: Developing the Mindset for Success.” She highlighted the importance of positive thinking, self-belief, and goal setting as essential foundations for long-term achievement.

Completing the lineup of speakers, Dr. Rosario, Assistant Head of the Guidance and Counseling Services, shared practical insights in his discussion “Career Education: Achieving Happiness and Success in My Chosen Career.” His talk guided students in aligning their personal interests, values, and skills with their future professions, stressing that meaningful career choices contribute not only to professional success but also to personal fulfillment.

The program concluded with remarks from Dr. Marifel Acena, Head of the Student Welfare Services Office, delivered by Mrs. Precious Emerald Castillo, Guidance Coordinator. She reminded the students the power of consistency and knowing one’s values in successfully navigating career paths that resonate with one’s purpose.

This initiative underscores UNP’s dedication to gender-equitable, quality services that enhance student assistance and promote sustained career-wellness support. It further advances the university’s mission of holistic student development.
