Four fourth-year architecture students from the University of Northern Philippines College of Architecture and Built Environment (UNP–CArBE) clinched the Grand Prize at the PROJÉTO: Ideas and Design Competition 2026. Team PADABA—Stephen Cacas, Kurtney Yvette Baldeviso, Paul Joseph Jallorina, and Brylle Mari Layne, mentored by Ar. Derick Dasugo—won for their project “M[ARK]ET” during final presentations and awards on March 15 at SMX Convention Center Manila.
Competing against top universities nationwide, the team advanced from Top 10 finalists to impress jurors with their innovative design: a flood-resilient public market that serves as a vibrant trading hub daily and a community refuge during disasters, enhancing vendor spaces and resilience.
PROJÉTO challenges architecture students to tackle social, environmental, and spatial issues. This victory brings national pride to UNP–CArBE, highlighting student excellence.
