The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) participated in a key consultative meeting organized by the Association of Philippine Schools of Midwifery, Inc. (APSOM) and the Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) for Midwifery on March 12, 2026, at Lime Hotel and Resort in Pasay City. The event focused on national issues in midwifery education and practice, including proposed amendments to the Midwifery Act of 1992 (Republic Act No. 7392), the PRB Midwifery Roadmap for 2026–2028, and the Table of Specifications for Bachelor of Science in Midwifery.
UNP was represented by College of Health Sciences Dean Dr. Joussie Bermio and BS Midwifery Program Head Associate Professor Lowie Lynette Basconcillo. Their attendance highlighted UNP’s commitment to aligning its program with evolving standards, regulatory updates, and licensure exam readiness.
The agenda featured opening ceremonies, a detailed presentation on the Table of Specifications (covering Foundations of Midwifery Practice, Obstetrics, Care of Infants and Children, Primary Health Care, and Professional Growth), the PRB Roadmap, and discussions on RA 7392 amendments. Resource speakers included PRB officials and APSOM officers.
This engagement ensures UNP stays with initiative-taking amid policy changes, strengthening its midwifery curriculum and graduate preparedness through vital dialogue and collaboration.
