CCIT honors student achievers

A moment of pride and achievement for the College of Communication and Information Technology (CCIT) as students received recognition for their outstanding works for the school year. Administrators, faculty, guests, students, and their proud parents gathered at the Technology Complex Building Function Hall to celebrate the event on April 26, 2026.

Setting the tone of the program, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Rolando B. Navarro emphasized the value of student achievement, encouraging them to strive even more for greater accomplishments ahead. He stressed that “the pride of honoring the achievements of our students reflect our commitment to deliver quality education”.

The recognition formally opened with the remarks of Assistant Dean Dr. Maribel T. Tacla, who highlighted that achievements are the fruits of labor and hardwork, made possible through the support of teachers and parents. She added that respect remains a core value grounded in virtues.

Dr. Honey Girl A. Avo introduced the guest speaker of the event, Maricris E. Jose, an alumna and former governor of the college’s mandated organization. During her term, the organization was recognized as one of the Outstanding Mandated Organizations, and she was also named among the Outstanding Graduating Student Leaders.

In her message, Maricris E. Jose shared that “every medal has a story.” She reflected that BS Computer Science was not her first choice and that she was not on top of her class, but perseverance helped her move forward. The skills and competencies she gained during her stay in the university, she said, shaped her into who she is today as a faculty member of the Abra State Institute of Science and Technology.

John Dave D. Foronda, the CCIT Batch 2026 Class Valedictorian, delivered words of gratitude after the awarding of medals and certificates, emphasizing that “success is never a solo journey” as he expressed appreciation to those behind the achievements of the CCIT community.

College Dean Prof. Rosanne S. Agup capped off the award ceremonies, extending her warmest congratulations to all student achievers. She reminded the graduating class to give their best beyond the university, while encouraging non-graduating students to keep their hopes high and draw inspiration from their seniors.

The Gawad CCIT honored academic excellence awardees and extra-curricular achievers, including leadership, athletics, journalism, STEM and culture, loyalty, Best Thesis and Capstone, and school spirit.
