UNP CHS holds Graduation Ceremony for 72 BSMLS graduates

The graduation season at the University of Northern Philippines continued on June 4, 2026 as the College of Health Sciences (CHS) proudly sent off 72 graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (BSMLS) program during their Commencement Exercises held at the UNP Gymnasium.

‎‎The program was held weeks after the University’s week-long clustered graduation ceremonies on May 11–15 as the graduates were still completing their internship requirements at the time, which conflicted with the scheduled commencement exercises.

‎‎The event commenced with a Baccalaureate Mass, setting a reflective and celebratory tone for the occasion. This was followed by the graduation proper highlighted by the hooding ceremony that symbolized the graduates’ academic achievement and transition into the professional field. A ceremonial processional then took place, featuring the graduates with their parents, the College of Health Sciences administration led by Dean Dr. Joussie Bermio, the faculty and staff of the BSMLS program, and University officials headed by UNP President Dr. Erwin Cadorna.

Dr. Joussie Bermio formally presented the graduates to the university officials, after which Dr. Rolando Navarro, Vice President for Academic Affairs, endorsed their recommendation for graduation. Acting on the recommendation, University President Dr. Cadorna officially confirmed and conferred the degrees upon the graduates.

The commencement ceremony was highlighted by an inspiring address from Dr. Lalanie “Lala” Palado-Rebuldela, owner of Doc Lala Medical and Aesthetic Clinic, who urged graduates to take charge of their future with courage and determination.

“If you want something for your life, you must take initiative… you must be willing to do the job,” Dr. Palado-Rebuldela stressed, reminding the graduates that success is achieved through action, perseverance, and hard work rather than passive waiting. She further encouraged the class to pursue their aspirations fearlessly, saying, “Continue to dream boldly,” as she emphasized the importance of sustaining ambition in striving for a better life.

Following her message, the ceremony proceeded with the awarding of honors and special distinctions before the graduates officially received their diplomas.

Jomarie Arista, Rank 1 of the BSMLS Batch 2025–2026, delivered his valedictory address that reflected on the struggles, sacrifices, and triumphs of the graduating class. “Maybe success was never becoming someone else, but slowly becoming who we are meant to be,” Arista said, as he recalled the journey that shaped them into the graduates they are today.

‎The celebration continued with a unity dance and a touching tribute honoring the unwavering support and sacrifices of the graduates’ parents, drawing an emotional response from those in attendance. The graduates then formally affirmed their commitment to their alma mater through the Pledge of Loyalty led by Batch Rank 2 Larest Gem Poli. This was followed by the Alumni Oath administered by Hon. Nestor Pajaro, President of the UNP Federated Alumni Association, officially welcoming the new graduates into the growing community of UNP alumni.

The ceremony concluded with the recessional and exit of colors, marking the close of a milestone event that celebrated not only academic achievement but also perseverance, gratitude, and new beginnings.
