The University of Northern Philippines College of Architecture was named Grand Champion at the first UAPSA National Design Competition held on April 11, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center, during the UAP 50th National Convention.
Representing UNP, the team—Merie Cyril Mae Antonio, Jovi Anne Haduca, Mark Jerome Ganal, Marc Gacusan, and Nomer Gecobe—won with their project “Kalapaw”, a climate-responsive evacuation center addressing flooding and extreme heat. The proposal stood out for its strong concept, innovation, and practical approach.
The team also received the ARC LICO Special Award for Best Concept, along with a Php100,000 cash prize. They were mentored by Ar. Charles Angelo T. Andrada, with full support from faculty members led by Ar. Fatima Nicetas Rabang Alonzo.
This achievement highlights UNP’s continued commitment to design excellence and climate-responsive architecture.
