Helping young learners make informed choices about their academic and professional futures, the University of Northern Philippines, through its University Information Office, brought college and career guidance closer to Grade 11 students of St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur (SPCIS) during its Career Pathing Activity on September 10, 2026.
Providing students with practical guidance as they chart their future beyond senior high school, Ms. Celeste Bianca Pajaro, Information Officer II of the University Information Office, served as a resource speaker during the Career Pathing Activity of St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur (SPCIS) themed “Steering Towards My Future.” She shared valuable insights drawn from her experiences on choosing the right college course, adapting to college life, and strategically preparing for a meaningful career after graduation.
Ms. Pajaro discussed the different factors students should consider when making academic and career decisions, including their interests, strengths, values, and personal goals. She encouraged the students to understand themselves first as they explore their possible career paths.
Emphasizing self-awareness as a crucial foundation for making purposeful decisions, she reminded Grade 11 students to “know yourself before you choose for yourself” as they prepare to navigate the important decisions that will shape their college education and future careers. Her message underscored the need for students to understand their interests, strengths, values, and aspirations before choosing an academic path aligned with their goals.
Drawing from her own academic and professional journey, Ms. Celeste Bianca Pajaro encouraged the students to view their transition from Senior High School to college and, eventually, the workplace as a continuing journey of learning, growth, and discovery. She emphasized the importance of remaining open to new experiences and opportunities, noting that students’ interests, aspirations, and career goals may evolve over time as they acquire knowledge, encounter new challenges, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the paths they wish to pursue.
The Career Pathing Activity was organized by the SPCIS High School Guidance Services, in collaboration with the High School Academic Unit, to help Grade 11 students explore possible career paths and make informed decisions as they prepare for higher education.
