Cybersecurity Awareness Lecture empowers BS Criminology students

The UNP-College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) held a three-day Cybersecurity Awareness Lecture from March 25 to 27, 2025 at the CCJE Function Hall. The activity was initiated by the Ilocos Sur Provincial Cyber Response Team (ISPCRT) which aimed to equip BS Criminology students with essential knowledge in exploring the digital world safely.

PEMS Archimedes Fernandez, Assistant Team Leader of ISPCRT and the resource speaker, emphasized the importance of being secured in the digital era by leaving the participants with 30 Safety Tips that they could practice. He also talked about the topic on Sextortion or Sexual Black Mail which is a problem that many teenagers face nowadays. PEMS Fernandez stressed the need of informing police officers or other trustworthy people about events.

This activity is consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 on Gender Equality, and SDG 16 promoting Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. It supports UNP’s goals of developing ethical leaders and mainstreaming gender and development. The lecture underscores UNP’s commitment to providing responsive education and fostering a safe digital environment for its community.

The dean of CCJE is Dr. Sina Bestre.
