DMNS elevates Math through art and ingenuity in “Mathematics in Motion”

Talent and ingenuity fused as the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences turned mathematics into an artistic and problem-solving spectacle during their event, “Mathematics in Motion: A Celebration of Art, Creativity, and Problem Solving.” Held on March 13-14, 2025, the celebration seamlessly blended logic with creativity, proving that mathematics is not just about numbers- it’s about thinking outside the box.

The event featured four exciting competitions highlighting the participants’ creativity and problem-solving skills. In “Math Meets Art: The Ultimate Creative Challenge,” AB Political Science 1A claimed first place with their innovative entry, followed by BS Medical Laboratory Science 1C in second place and BS Hospitality Management 1E, third, showcasing remarkable artistic expressions. The “Creative Map Coloring: Exploring Geography through Colors” competition saw Mr. Christian Lloyd Subere (BS Computer Science 1A) securing first place with a blend of mathematical precision and artistic flair, while Mr. PJ Maverick Valdez (BSEd Mathematics 1) and Ms. Jhadieja Bargado (BS Computer Science 1A) took second and third places, respectively. The “Great Tower of Hanoi Challenge: Build, Create, and Conquer!” emphasized exceptional problem-solving abilities, with Mr. Joshua Michael Pere (BS Computer Science 1A) earning the top spot, followed by Mr. John Zedric Rabo (BS Computer Science 1A) in second place and Mr. John Psalm Balatico (BSEd Mathematics 1) in third. Lastly, the “Mathematics Quiz Bee” showcased participants’ analytical prowess, with Mr. Jade Nathaniel Reotutar (BS Mathematics 1) taking first place, while Mr. Russel Jay A. Fuentesfina (BS Physics 2) and Mr. Shane Carlo Alonzo (BSEd Mathematics 1) achieved second and third places, respectively.

This contributes significantly to the University of Northern Philippines’ goals by encouraging creativity, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning.
