CGAD conducts gender sensitivity training for health workers
The UNP Center for Gender and Development conducted a Gender Sensitivity Training for health workers at Metro Vigan Cooperative Hospital as part of the 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration, with the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” in Bantay, Ilocos Sur on March 25, 2024.
Three training workshops were provided during the event. The first training workshop was “Basic Orientation on Gender and Development Concepts and Gender Issues,” which was provided by Dr. Eleanor Rivas-Belizar, National GAD Resource Pool of the Philippine Commission on Women.
This was followed by the “Concepts of Gender and Development and Gender Mainstreaming,” which was provided by Dr. Ma. Jesusa R. Unciano.
The last learning session was provided by Dr. Vonnavic Racuya-Agad, officer-in-charge of the CGAD on the topics, legal mandates of GAD, promotion of respect and equality in the workplace, addressing unconscious bias, and fostering inclusive communication practices using gender-fair language.
The event was actively participated in by the head and staff of the MVH under the leadership of the Hospital’s President and CEO, Dr. Digna R. Ragasa, and facilitated by the hospital’s human resources staff through Mr. Jaypee C. Caalim and the hospital’s chief nurse, Ms. Josefina R. Agam.
